When you save a die roll to your list of Favorites, you can specify a name for the roll and a list of actions to take based on the die roll result. After a Favorite die roll is made, Gamer’s Dice will go down the list and perform each action in turn. By using the Range action, you can specify whether the following actions are performed or ignored. The list of actions include:
Range
Tests the die roll result against a range of numbers. If the die roll falls within the range, any actions that follow are performed until the end of the list or another Range action is performed. The format of the Range action is Range <number> to <number> where the two numbers represent the number range the die roll result must fall within to perform the following actions. If only the upper number is specified, the range is open ended at the bottom and all numbers up to and including the upper number are included in the range. If only the lower number is specified, the range is open ended at the top and all numbers from the lower number up are included in the range. A single number can be specified if testing for a specific die roll result.
For example, when testing result of the roll of a die, the action Range 2 to 4 will cause all the actions following the Range action to be performed if the die roll result is 2, 3 or 4. The action Range to 3 will cause all the actions following the Range action to be performed if the result is 3 or less while the action Range 5 to will cause all the following actions to be performed if the result is 5 or more.
Always
All actions following the Always action will always be performed regardless of the result of any preceeding Range action.
Button
The Button action will cause the roll result button to show the text following the Button action instead of the result of the die roll. The text must be enclosed within single or double quotes. For example Button “Heads” or Button ‘Tails’.
Message
The text following the Message action is displayed momentarily as a message at the bottom of the screen.
Note
The text following the Note action is ignored by Gamer’s Dice. It is a way to leave comments inside the die roll results test.
Result Button Colors
The color of the die roll result button can be changed by using the following colors as actions: Light, Dark, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple.
Sounds
The Success action will play a sound (“Yay!”) while the Failure action will play a negative sound (“Aww!”).
Reroll
The Reroll action will roll the dice again, as if the button had been tapped again.
Roll
The Reroll action followed by the name of a Favorite in quotes will roll that favorite, as if its button had been tapped.
Gamers Dice limits the number of times Reroll and Roll actions are performed to prevent accidental infinite loops.
Actions that affect the History list
The Clear action will clear the history list. The Reset action will reset the roll totals and the Hide action will prevent the roll from being added to the History list.
